The Online Coding School was founded by Tim Pentland, a former software developer who re-trained as a teacher specialising in A-Level Computer Science. Tim has 20 years teaching experience delivering Computer Science National Curriculum for England and Wales, both in the UK and at international schools abroad.
Tim believes that every child should learn to code. it is a crucial skill in the modern world, and he will teach students how to understand what the code is doing to use it to create online solutions, rather than relying upon generative AI to create the code.
Through his current role as Head of Computer Science at a leading secondary school, Tim knows what is currently taught in school and what is needed to be taught to flourish in the professional coding workspace. The UK has a severe lack of Computer Science teachers meaning that many schools are not able to teach Computer Science to a level that they want to, let alone need to!
Understanding is our mantra. The National Curriculum fails to provide this understanding, and Tim will teach students not only how to build the code, but also understand what they are doing!
